'Stevie-G' love in
It's becoming inescapable, as are clips of 'that goal' in the 'Gerard final'.

Unbearable sycophancy and it's only going to get worse.

Am I being unfair or does it make anyone else queasy/furious too?

My thoughts as well. Did you see the Liverpool fan on the news who could barely speak to the reporter about Stevie-G's last game as he was choking up. Did I miss something and he's become royalty?

He's probably a decent bloke, let's not forget the credit he gave West Ham fans after the cup final.

It's the media wankfest that grates with me

He is an amazing footballer and any plaudits he gets are deserved.

Colin Murray and friends talking about how tickets for this weekend's game now selling for £3k but they are actually priceless etc. even the phrase 'Stevie-G' is horrendous. It's not even that final. It's just him!

...others talking about him I mean, not about him scoring against us.

Remind me what he said about us at the final please

He went up in my estimations after his comments about the Chelsea fans at the weekend

The thing thats annoying me most about it all is stupid descriptions like 'hes the most complete midefielder' or 'there's nothing he couldnt do'.

Um, except dribble round someone or show a bit of flair? Dont get me wrong, he's undoubtedly a superb player, but he's no Xavi/Iniesta.

Didn't he want to leave at one point but got death threats, so he decided to stay?

I will forever admire him for tripping over the ball at the end of last season. I waited a long eight miserable years for that moment

Interesting how scholes & lampard left in silence and they won much more medals yet Gerrard getting loads more media attention.

He's one of the best players to have ever appeared in the Premier League and he deserves all the plaudits he gets.

The goal he scored against us in the cup final hurt big time, but it was still an amazing goal at the perfect time for his club. Sometimes you've got to just begrudgingly admire pure class.

I'm pretty certain they didn't leave in silence. The media loved to talk about them too.

What is odd is the love affair for Beckham even when he was england mascot and being rolled on for sympathy caps to eclipse our Bobby. And here we have one of England's greatest ever midfielders being knocked because he tripped over.

Haven't we grown out of claiming anazing players are shit because of the club they play for?

Lastly, Sky sports news has to find something to talk about

Re: 'Stevie-G' love in
It's a fucking joke quite frankly, but typical of the world we live in now.

I heard that prick Lawrenson say this evening that Steve G is the greatest Liverpool player never to have won the top honour of a championship & then added , probably in football at any club in the country !

FFS what , so he's better / had more impact in the game than the likes of Jimmy Greaves, Moore, Peters, Banks, Lineker is he ? I'm sure others can add many more names more worthy than Gerrard as a player.

I appreciate that is this day & age it's unusual for a player to stay at one club & he's a good player for sure & accept in Liverpool's eyes he's even a Liverpool great.

However , a great of the game & the best player ever to never win a championship - do me a favour FFS keep it real.

If he was West Ham he would be being treated like a God or Billy b, or Bobby Moore this weekend.
Good luck to him and all his little scouslings
